Dance Generators is an intergenerational dance company housed at the University of San Francisco that brings University students and Bay Area older adults together as artists, learners, and collaborators. With participants ranging from their teens through their nineties, Dance Generators uses collaborative dance-making and embodied creative practice to bridge generational divides, challenge ageism, and cultivate belonging, agency, and meaningful contribution across the lifespan. Through classes, performances, and community-engaged projects, participants use creative and somatic practices for reflection and dialogue across cultural, generational, racial, religious, and gender identities. By bringing intergenerational dance into community and institutional spaces, Dance Generators uses dance as a catalyst for social change and a strategy for building more pluralistic, connected futures.
